Pahrump to Mountain Springs Trail
Trail Name: Pahrump to Mountain Springs
Location: Connects Pahrump to the Mountain Springs area toward Las Vegas, through the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest (Spring Mountains)
Difficulty: Easy
Distance: 31.2 miles total
Est. Time: 4-5 hours round trip with stops
Overview:
A mostly non-technical gravel/hard-pack route that climbs out of the desert floor into forested terrain, a popular Pahrump-to-Vegas backcountry connector. Expect steep grades, dry wash crossings, and a real chance of spotting wild horses, elk, or mountain goats up top.
What to Know Before You Go:
– Watch for dry water channels that can flash flood fast in bad weather, don’t push it if rain’s rolling in.
– Lots of blind corners and single-vehicle-width sections, run a whip flag and take it slow around turns.
– Cell service is spotty; download offline maps before you go.
– Nevada OHV tag required.
Nearby Stops:
Camping and hiking access points along the route; Mountain Springs has services if you continue on toward Las Vegas.
